Juliette: Most Potential
Juliette
When my friend Shonagh and I needed to get together to urgently converse, we used to always go to the garden at Vera Cruz for happy hour margaritas. They covered their patio with a plastic tent, and while I don't blame them for not wanting to lose business on rainy days, it kind of has an icky feeling. Like you should be able to moon walk, or store your coats winter there. But now, it's just assumed we meet at Juliette, upstairs.
This place is a wonder. The French food is consistently excellent and reasonably priced. Sea scallops in spinach risotto, cold corn and crab soup with smoky paprika...you get the idea.
The interior is charming Paris bistro style, and the open air terrace is wonderful in the evening. The furniture is metal painted bright colors and stressed--a perfect look for them and the lamps look like vintage streetlights. As for plant material they have a row of trees in planters--neither the plants nor the pots are interesting, but there's an attempt and who knows what can happen next year. And the last time we ate there, a raccoon passed by on the neighboring roof. Loved that.
